El Dorado Wine Tour Itinerary
This tour is slightly different that we build in time for a glass at each winery before or after your tasting. The 49er Trail is the perfect destination for wine lovers and adventure seekers alike. Discover the hidden gems of this original and thriving wine industry, where over 40 wineries offer outstanding wines and unique tasting experiences. Scenic views of the Sierra Foothills and just a short drive from downtown Sacramento where you can uncover your own treasure in rural California’s gold country
Stop #1 - The journey begins
We are happy to come and collect you from your house or hotel in the Sacramento area. If you live slightly outside then we are happy to make arrangements within reason and at our discretion. We can always arrange a further-a-field pick up for a small fee. Wherever we start... This is where the perfect day begins!
Stop #2 - A step back in time
As we arrive in the quiet town of Placerville, the history is abundant. A quaint piece of the past unfolds as the start of our tour. We enjoy a walk through the main street to one of our first wineries of the day. Located only a couple of miles from where gold was first discovered, new treasures await.
Stop #3 - The Picnic by the pond
As always, we provide a delicious light lunch to keep you going and your palates fresh! After picking up our lunch to go, a wonderful picnic area awaits us at El Dorado's premier winery. Following this, we will be staying on for our second tasting here and discovering the delights of the hills.
Stop #4 - The last of the summer wine
We love rounding off the day at a place to soak in the sun with a view. As the afternoon continues, this is where it all comes together. The reflection of the different wine making styles, the enjoyment of the moment and the knowledge that you are having a wonderful time. It is the perfect time to reflect on the day with your friends and family who have joined you, or just to continue the laughter and enjoyment of the day.
Stop # 5 - The Jounrey Home
Having enjoyed all the fantastic new wines on your journey, it's time to take these treasures and memories home. This is also where the best value of the day comes in. Your chariot awaits with no chance of a D.U.I! No mix ups getting lost, in fact, no worries at all! The ride back is often either filled with laughter, singing and chatter of all the great wines we enjoyed, or the ideal time for a light snooze with the sun on your face as we ferry you home. Actually... often both! We will get you back safe and sound with a ton of great memories and hopefully a few souvenirs too. If you have dinner reservations then we will also be happy to drop you off at the restaurant. Just make sure to let us know in advance.
